Mission Statement
At Unnecessary Hypotheticals Therapy, our mission is to provide a compassionate, inclusive space where individuals and couples can explore their authentic selves, heal from past wounds, and empower themselves to build meaningful, fulfilling lives. We specialize in working with those in nontraditional relationships, as well as the LGBTQIA+ community, with a focus on honoring each person’s unique experiences and identities.

We believe that therapy is a collaborative journey, where every person’s voice is heard and respected. Through empathy, understanding, and evidence-based practices, we aim to guide our clients toward greater self-awareness, healthier relationships, and a deeper connection with their true selves. We are committed to supporting our clients as they navigate life’s complexities, empowering them to embrace change, heal, and grow in a way that aligns with their values and aspirations.

At Unnecessary Hypotheticals Therapy, healing begins by creating a safe, judgment-free space where each individual can be seen, heard, and supported on their path to growth and self-discovery.

Purpose
This policy establishes a framework for the ethical and professional support of 2SLGBTQIA+ and immigrant individuals and communities. It is grounded in the ethical principles of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT), as well as state and federal laws, ensuring the dignity, safety, and well-being of all individuals, particularly those facing systemic marginalization and discrimination.

We affirm our commitment to creating a safe, welcoming, and affirming space for all individuals, regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity, immigration status, race, ethnicity, religion, disability, or socioeconomic background. We recognize the unique challenges faced by the 2SLGBTQIA+ and immigrant communities and actively work to dismantle systemic barriers to access, equity, and justice.

Ethical and Legal Framework
Our practices adhere to the ethical guidelines set forth by the AAMFT, including:
-
Non-Discrimination: We do not engage in or tolerate discrimination based on sexual orientation, gender identity, immigration status, or other protected characteristics.
-
Confidentiality and Privacy: We uphold the highest standards of confidentiality, particularly concerning immigration status and personal identity, in compliance with state and federal privacy laws.
-
Cultural Competency: We commit to ongoing education and training to ensure culturally competent and trauma-informed services for 2SLGBTQIA+ and immigrant individuals and families.
-
Advocacy and Protection: We actively support policies that protect the rights and well-being of these communities, including legal protections, mental health services, and access to resources.
